doubtless the end of a cycle but there are still plenty of faithful
windsurfers out there. It’s true to say that there doesn’t
seem to be much in the way of the next generation coming through.
The new generation, the younger ones like my own kids, likes to
try everything, but as time passes it seems to be surf that’s
winning out.
There’s less equipment to think about and transport, and
less expensive because of it. But it’s a sport that has
limits, not least the number of surfers able to get onto a spot,
it’s often very crowded everywhere. Whereas windsurfing
has fundamentally enormous potential.
It’s the main popular entry point for discovering adrenaline
sports combining wind and water. There are more potential spots
than you could ever count ? We just need to change the perspective
of windsurfing. |
